Wedding Dates to Avoid in 2020
WEDDING DATES TO AVOID IN 2020
HELPING YOU FIND THE PERFECT DAY TO SAY “I DO”
Congratulations, your engaged! We hope you’re taking every second to soak it all in, and maybe even commemorate the occasion with a photoshoot. But now it’s time to start planning the wedding, and one of the first things you do when planning your nuptials is picking the perfect wedding date.
The truth is, almost any day is the right day to have a wedding if the date means something to you. However, there are a few days throughout the year you may consider avoiding if you want to try and be as accommodating as possible to your family and friends.
To help make the process a little easier on you, we have compiled a simple guide to make sure you pick the perfect day for your 2020 wedding!
HOLIDAY WEEKENDS
THREE DAY WEEKENDS ARE NOT ALWAYS IDEAL WHEN IT COMES TO BOOKING YOUR WEDDING DATE
Holiday weekends where you and your fiancé have a Friday or Monday off might seem like a great idea for a wedding date. And why not? You have an extra day to not only party, but to recover. Plus if you plan your wedding for a Sunday, you can even save some money since vendors typically discount Sunday bookings.
However, holiday weekends can be a nightmare for your guests, and booking your wedding date during a three day weekend can greatly impact who could attend your nuptials. Between travel plans and activities with the kids, holiday weekends tend to be reserved by your guests weeks or years in advance.
While the impact of a long weekend wedding on your guests is by no means a deal breaker, it is important to consider the pros and cons if you want to appeal to the largest group of people.
PERSONALLY SIGNIFICANT DAYS
EVERYONE HAS A CALENDAR FILLED WITH MORE EVENTS THAN THEY THOUGHT
You believe the first Saturday of June is the perfect day to say “I do”. You call the venue (great they’re free), check the photographers availability (also free) and before you know it you’re madly in love with the idea of getting married on June 6, 2020. But slow down just a second. Did you check your calendar for any conflicting events? Yup, that’s right, June 6 is your parents wedding anniversary.
Many newly engaged couples get so caught up in finding the ideal wedding day, they forget about their prior commitments throughout the year. That’s why before you start looking for the perfect wedding day, we suggest crossing off personally significant days throughout the year that cannot be touched. Things to look out for are birthday parties, anniversaries, reunions and weddings of close family and friends.
THE MOST POPULAR WEDDING DAY OF THE YEAR
COUPLES REALLY LOVE FALL WEDDINGS
There really is no perfect day to hold your nuptials. However, there is one day in 2019 that celebrated the most “I do’s”. On October 19th, 2019, over 34,000 couples in North America tied the knot.
Now, what is the significants of October 19, 2020 to you? Probably nothing. So don’t worry about trying to book your wedding according to what everyone else is doing. In the end, a day is a day and it means nothing unless it means something to you.
So sure, you may want to steer clear of long weekends, and if you have a sports obsessed family, you may even consider avoiding major sporting events. And if you’re the superstitious type, consider avoiding traditionally “unlucky” days, like Friday the 13th. However, all 365 days are at your disposal, and whatever day you chose will be the right one for you.
