What You Should Look for in a Montreal Wedding Photographer

WHAT YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR IN A MONTREAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHY

If you google search “Montreal wedding photographer”, you are going to find hundreds of results. However, as with anything you can buy, there's a good, better and best version.

Here are four things you should look for in a wedding photographer.

THEIR PHOTOGRAPHS

DO THEY CREATE UNIQUE AND EXPRESSIVE IMAGERY

The first thing anyone looks at when visiting a wedding photographers website are the images. Those images are a reflection of what they deliver to brides and grooms from their wedding day, and so the quality of the photographs should be your primary focus.

If you are not sure what to look for, here are some tips.

  • Does the photographer present a consistent style? You do not want to hire someone who is unable to deliver the quality and look that you are paying for. They may be able to take a nice photo, but have they been able to capture nice photos over multiple weddings?

  • Does the photographer fit the style of what you are looking for? Are their images too soft and dreamy? Or perhaps they are too loud and busy? It’s important that the artistic vision of the photographer matches your style.

  • How do you feel about the poses and angles used in the photographers images? Do they look natural, timeless and well composed?

  • Does the photographer guarantee that their second photographer at your wedding is able to provide you with the same quality of images? It’s important that your wedding album tells a cohesive story.

EXPERIENCE

HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER WHO IS PREPARED

The best kind of marketing is a positive word of mouth. If someone takes nice photos but has no reviews or bad reviews, that’s a problem. It tends to mean that while the images could be nice, the overall experience of working with the photographer left much to be desired.

Wedding photography is about more than just taking nice pictures, it’s about having the experience and knowledge to help a brides and grooms live out the wedding day of their dreams.

A great photographer needs to know how to improvise on the spot. They need to know how to help manage your wedding day timeline. An experience photographer is comfortable in various lighting and weather conditions.

Hire a photographer who when you ask them questions, is quick on their toes and makes you feel confident in their abilities.

WEDDING ALBUMS

DO THEY OFFER THEM AND HOW ARE THEY MADE

We live in a digital age, but wedding albums are still so important. Think about it for just one second. When you pass away, you wedding album will be the first family heirloom that you will pass on to your children. It encapsulates your love story and preserves the legacy of who you were.

Therefore, you should inform yourself on the construction of the albums your photographer offers. Inspect the quality of the product, because the last thing you want is to purchase a wedding album meant to survive multiple generations, that won’t even last five years.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

IT’S ALL ABOUT CLIENT CARE

Your wedding photographer is one of the wedding vendors that you will have the most contact with in the months and sometimes even years leading up to your wedding. Therefore, it’s important that you not only get along, but they they make you feel like a priority.

Do they respond to emails and phone calls promptly? Do they answer your questions thoroughly? Do they make make you feel like you are getting a boutique experience?

You should hire a photographer that does not just deliver quality wedding images, but a great overall customer service experience.
